The Lebanese divorce.

I have been listening to the radio yesterday while having my afternoon coffee and listening to Viva Fame FM which is ran by Laura Sidaoui from 6:00pm-7:00pm, who talks about different topics each day. Well, yesterday’s topic was about the increasing divorce rate in Lebanon and people were discussing, sending voice notes, WhatsApp messages and calling to share their opinions. bigstock-Warning-Of-Divorce-Is-Soon-50785919 Some individuals mentioned that social media is responsible about it, others mentioned that it is about culture, ethics, how a person was raised and others shared their personal experiences. I shall start by a study that was made about this.

According to a research which was done by An-nahar newspaper in 19-05-2013 with the support of Center of Development Studies and Projects. The research explores the demographic situation in Lebanon in relation to families, immigration, employment, health and social participation with youth and women aged between 15 to 29 years old. The results were that; the fertility rate in Lebanon is dropping low; in other words, families are not able to bear more than two children which results in a negative natural population growth in the future.

The research also pointed out that divorce rates has doubled since 1970 and divorce has a greater impact on women than on men. Therefore, the number of women divorcees is four times than that of men, since men tend to divorce in Lebanon. On the other hand, the divorce rate of couples over 45 years of age can reach 25% among women and 15% among men. In addition, today’s girls’ education tends to be higher than her partner. With regards to employment, the study indicated that population increased by 41% of the labor force, with participation of young women in economic activity.

This is according to the newspaper research and studies but what I personally concluded is the following:

1. “To love, obey and honor him” still exist until this day.

2. Some religions or laws still have “no fault” divorce which allows couples to divorce for no good reason or without reason at all.

3. Couples do not know how to fight fairly or to find fair solutions.

4. Couples end up divorcing because they waited too long to solve their problems during their marriage.

5. Our expectations of what marriage are not supposed to be childish.

6. We live in difficult society; where marriages are thrown away in the fashion toss and the old pair of shoes. 7. Lastly, we lack patience.

“The key to staying married is deciding not to get divorced. It is that simple.”

The real garbage.

Basically after all those big jokes and people posting pictures on social media how garbage is everywhere, people demonstrated for garbage, walking around to see garbage and getting stuck in traffic because of garbage. Personally, I came to a fine conclusion; that Lebanon is a worthless country. I do not need to explain why, how or what.

1. When a country is too lazy to choose a person for presidency, I call that irresponsibility.

2. When one of the Lebanese presidents gives up on his duties because he is out of ideas or solutions to this country, I call that stupidity.

3. When a young boy asks me who do I follow or which Lebanese color do I prefer, I do not know what to call that.

4. When the parliament guys meet up on Wednesdays to curse each other, while half of them are busy playing candy crush, checking out his/her selfies they took the week before in Paris; I call that pathetic.

5. You go up on TV stations, talking about recycling; that is a great idea, but do you even know the procedure of recycling? It is not only about putting garbage in colored bags! How are you supposed to teach a community about recycling, while that community still criticizes the neighbor’s religion, name and hair do.

6. Finally, when a country does know what to do with its garbage because they did not re-sign the contract with Sukleen and other people decided to shut the Nehme square; because they are suffocating. But you were talking about this issue ONE YEAR AGO. A proper country that respects and cares about its country, could have taken proper decisions since the minute they knew that all this shit is going to happen; and not allowing people to drown in garbage.

Sadly, the poor Lebanese is always the one who gets smacked in the face while the presidents are sitting on their own garbage, thinking that they do not poop any garbage.

We are not the first country that goes through garbage crisis; I was reading an article that other day, Ireland got tired of having garbage UNDERGROUND because the place they are throwing all the garbage is full. Although, this respectful country is actually making use of garbage and turning it into some natural energy.

Come on; demonstrations, posting pictures on social media and sending jokes on WhatssApp will NOT clean up your shitty street. We need action.

Allow me.

Put me somewhere where I can drown in your soul,

let me dissolve your thoughts in my heart,

allow to bleed in your kisses,

make me moan in my laughs and laugh in my cries,

let my eyes sink in your body.

Allow me to live this real dream,

I want to be the salt in your coffee,

your breathing lips that never touched an ego.

Bring me to reality, bring me to sensation,

let me feel your lovely hate.

I am…

I am a destiny that leads to nowhere,

I am hate that loves deeply,

I am your heart that thinks with every beat,

I am your silent voice in your screams,

I am your loud voice that I abhorred,

I am an angle in your rounded circle,

I am my own fingernails that can scrub you to death,

I am your deathly life,

I am your living death,

I am living in your dead soul.
